The Oklahoma Girls Have Some News

After 6 years of this blog (has it really been that long??), you all know the Oklahoma Girls.  You've been there for girls trips, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, weddings, and lots of good times.

Well.....the girls have some exciting news and thought we should share with you all.
Blonde Oklahoma Girl:  "Little boots to be filled coming October 15, 2015!"

Loud Oklahoma Girl:  "Waiting on our next Oklahoma sports fan.
Due November 2015.  Just in time for Bedlam!"

That's right, y'all!  Oklahoma Babies are on the way!  I can't tell you how much fun it has been to go through this pregnancy adventure along with two of my best friends.  We are all so excited (and somewhat terrified) to be contributing to our own little baby boom!

A Tribute to our Alma Mater

The girls and I sort of have a signature photo.  A tribute, of sorts, to the school that brought us together.  We've taken this picture in a variety of situations.  Drunken nights at the Copper Penny.  Wine tasting trips in Napa.  Post-half marathon races.  On top of Lombard Street.  At birthdays.  Bachelorette parties.  And, as of late, the post has appeared at a lot of weddings.

Blonde Oklahoma Girl's Wedding

I've been patiently waiting for the photos and/or video of Blonde Oklahoma Girl's wedding to be ready in order to do the blog. Finally, the sneak peak photos have been posted and I just can't wait anymore to share them with you!  I'm sure you all are excited too, especially after the wildly popular Advice for the Single Ladies Blog Series we just did a couple of weeks ago.

We've been through a lot, that Blonde Oklahoma Girl and I.  We're sort of the last of the Mohicans...the final single girls in the group (sometimes it felt like on the planet).  There were many a phone conversation where she talked me off the ledge, and vice versa.  There was lot of analyzing, tears over engagements happening, and a friendship that's spanned nearly a decade.  It was such an honor to stand up with her on her big day.

The best description I've got for Blonde Oklahoma Girls' wedding day is this.....it was the day Pinterest came to life.  I was beyond amazed at the beautiful setting, the amazing decorations, her attention to every.last.detail.  It was seriously just perfect. My words won't do it justice, so I'll let the pictures talk.  And hopefully someday soon, I'll have a video to play for you all.

First up, getting ready.  She had us matching bridal party tank tops and herself a monogrammed white shirt.  Classic.

Then (maybe the best part) the decor.  Seriously, if you've seen it on a rhustic-chic Pinterest board, she made it.  It was amazing!
She had handmade signs all over the place.
This was the guest book area.
I'm so in love with the pictures frames she had, I bought them
in white for my own wedding.

She had a popcorn bar for her gift to the guests....
I've been in a lot of weddings but had never seen this!
The flowers?  To die for.

Next we have the wedding party.  I may be a bit partial, but I think we're pretty dang sharp lookin' folks here.  (Please note these dresses?  $40 a Maurice's.  Genius and they photographed so well!)

Next up, we've got the dress.  This, too, was something that she found on Pinterest and then went and tracked down in real life.  And despite a bit of drama (and the accidental dropping of a major curse word) getting it on when there was a broken hook, it was perfection.

And now, the venue.  Seriously, she always wanted a barn wedding.  Well she got the storybook venue---not one barn, but two and a beautiful open area full of old trees strung with lanterns and candles for the ceremony.

Finally, the party.  They had an amazing first dance....very Pure Country wedding-ish (which was the goal)....under the sky and white lights.  There was a little surprise for everyone, but you'll have to wait for the video to see that.  The night ended with a sparkler send off for the happy couple!

There was also a fun photo booth.  He's her's.  She's his.  I'm here for the cake.

Oh, and last but certainly not least, it is football season.  Go Pokes!

Happy Birthday and Wedding Week to Blonde Oklahoma Girl!

It's a big week for this little lady....

Today she turns the BIG 3-0 and on Saturday she ties the knot.  Phew!  I'm tired just thinking about it.

In a lot of ways, she and I are nothing alike.  She's all girl.  She loves make up and pink and big hair.  She was in a sorority, wears leopard print clothing, and watches all the angry women on Bravo.  She selects March Madness brackets by team color and mascot, for crying out loud.

But you know, we've been through it all together.  Good times, the worst times, great trips, fun football games, wild nights, broken hearts, new jobs, finding our future husbands.....I couldn't have imagined doing any of that without her by my side.

So excited to stand up with her this weekend when she says I do and eat a cupcake in her honor today!

Celebrating Blonde Oklahoma Girl

Last weekend, I headed to Oklahoma to celebrate the upcoming 30th birthday and upcoming wedding of Blonde Oklahoma Girl in a Birthday/Bachelorette Party bash.

Rough Start

The weekend got off to a bit of a rough start.  I was 2 hours late hitting the road thanks to a 3 inch nail in my tire.  Needless to day, had to get that baby repaired.  Then in my rush to get all of the presents and snacks and goodies loaded in the car, I drove off without my suitcase.  WITHOUT MY SUITCASE.  Of course, I did not realize this until I arrived in Oklahoma 5 hours later.  So there I was.  No clothes.  No toothbrush.  Only the shoes on my feet (flip flops).

I wish I could honestly say, "I can't believe I did that" or "That was so not like me!"  But, truthfully, it was a total Tiffany move.  Frankly, I'm surprised this had never happened before.  Live and learn, kids.  Live and learn.

Friday Night

So on Friday night we kicked the festivities off with a little Mexican food in the town where Blonde Oklahoma Girl lives.  The food was good, well, as good as Mexican food can be when the response to you asking "Can I get that green?" is a blank stare.  New Mexican problems, I tell ya.

After that we hit up a really cool little bar/club and did a little dancing.

Back together again!
Because we're old and life has worn us out, we were back home watching Bravo by 11:30 and asleep by 12:30.  You'll sense a theme here.

Saturday

Saturday morning we headed to Oklahoma City.  We went to the mall to try and find the girls' bridesmaid dresses for my wedding.  You talk about frustrating.  I don't know what happened to customer service anymore, but I'm here to tell you, if I owned a store and someone was coming in wanting to buy four dresses I'd be pretty dang accommodating!  We left the mall dressless.

Then it was time to start the fun. We spent the afternoon on a perfect, sunny, Oklahoma day at the pool.  We swam, we tanned, we talked a lot, it was pretty much perfect.

Obligatory "Go Pokes" photo.

After a few hours playing beach babes, we headed back upstairs for a little rest and some more Bravo.  I don't get that channel or watch the shows, but there are a lot of really angry women who seem to have a lot of Botox going on.

At this point I decided to run to Target to buy myself something to wear for the night, you know, since all my clothes were neatly packed and sitting in College Station.  While there, I found bridesmaid dresses!  It was exactly what we had been looking for, it only cost $30, and they had all of the sizes we needed.  Score!  Marked that baby off the list.

It was then time for the lingerie shower.  We played my favorite lingerie shower game, for which I don't really have a game.  Each guest brings a pair of undies that somehow represents her style and personality for the bride.  Then the bride has to guess who brought which pair.  Blonde Oklahoma Girl was 3/5.  Impressive!  Then she opened her gifts and got some seriously adorable stuff....I think she'll be outfitted for her honeymoon in style!

Love these girls!
Then we were off to dinner at Abuelos in Bricktown.  This restaurant passed my test for two reasons.  First, the had green chile enchiladas made with actual green chile.  Score.  Second, this is the place where we all ate the night that I first met The Boy from Texas.  Good things happen here.

Headed in to dinner

Next up was a burlesque show at The Dollhouse.  I have to say, it was pretty fun!  The burlesque part was really neither here nor there for me (I don't know much about dancing but I don't think they were that great as far as being in sync and what not) but the atmosphere was great and they played great music, so we danced the night away.

On the dance floor

And by "the night away" I mean that we were back in our hotel in our pjs with Bravo on by midnight.  Wild children, we are.

Conclusion

My favorite part of the night was when we were at Doll House and "Single Ladies" came on.  We were dancing and Blonde Oklahoma Girl and I turned to each other at the same time and screamed, "We've got rings on it and we're not single ladies anymore!"  That was a long time coming for us!  And it spawned an idea for a fun blog series that will be starting off on Friday.  You guys stay tuned.

Oh, and lastly, I'm sharing a picture Text that I sent to The Boy from Texas on Sunday morning.  This is the very spot that we first met almost 2 years ago.  It all started at the Hampton Inn....
