A Little Giveaway...

"If you look for the good, you will find it." ~Sweetness Itself Blog

My sweet friend, The Crazy Canadian, posted the following on her facebook page last week:

2013 Inspirational Pay It Forward:  The first five people to comment on this status & re-post, will receive in the next calendar year, an "inspirational" gift or surprise from me...you never know what you will get! If you're 1 of my 5 lucky friends, I'll need your address if I don't already have. The catch is that you have to be willing to post on your page and do the same for others (creative, inspirational (like me) or whatever is authentically you)! Let the posting begin!

Well, I couldn't pass this up because if I know my friend, it's going to be something awesome she gives to people!  So....I'm joining in the fun.

The first 5 people to comment on this blog will get an inspirational gift from me sometime this year!  And, as you know from my 30 by 30 list, I'm all into this do-it-yourself craft business right now, so it could get interesting!

And, because I hate posts without pictures, here are a few inspirational gems for your Thursday.

What I'm Loving Wednesday #9 (and a GIVEAWAY!)

"And in the end, its not the years in your life that count. Its the life in your years."

I haven't linked up with Jamie in a while, so I thought I'd share some of the things I'm currently loving!

~ Top 5. That's right, people....my Pokes are ranked #5 in the country. I could not be prouder to be an OSU alum and I cannot wait to watch them play live a couple more times this season!

~ BFF. There is something about that boy that can just fix things. I mean, it doesn't matter what I'm stressed out about or upset about or whatever, he has this amazing ability to just make things better. Whether it be giving me a hug or telling me it's not 3rd and 15 or making me laugh, he's got me figured out. I hope y'all have someone like that in your life. If not, I might need to share my best friend with you.

~ Family Ski Trip. It's already time to start thinking about the big event that you read about last year and the year before that. Our annual family (and friends) ski trip for New Year's. This year, I'm even more excited than usual because....drumroll please....The Blonde Oklahoma Girl is flying in to join in the fun! WOO HOO!! The last time we spent New Year's together....it looked like this......

Any chance we've grown up and matured in the last 3 years??? Stay tuned (but don't hold your breath!)

~ White nectarines. I got hooked on these babies when I lived in San Francisco and could by them every Saturday at the Farmer's market. If y'all haven't tried them, trust me, you will LOVE them too!

~ Fall. Everything about it. The smell of roasting green chile, hot air balloons, cool weather, fairs, college football, hoodies, pumpkin scented candles....you name it, I'm in.

~Winning. As I mentioned yesterday, my hot air balloon photo was selected photo of the month at Project 64! I'm SO excited.....and I have no doubt that it was based more on my awesome friends and followers than anything, so thank you for voting!

And to celebrate this achievement....I think it's time for a giveaway! Don't you agree? Up for grabs is an awesome "Fall in New Mexico" package that I'm going to put together. It will involve yummy food and cool photos and trinkets. Trust me, you'll like it.

How do you enter? Easy!

Just leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing about fall.

For 5 extra entries, be a follower of my blog (instructions here)!

Get your comments in by 9:00 pm on Friday, September 30!

Another Edition of.....Brain Dump

“Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you only have one life and one chance to do it all.” ~ Unknown

Sorry guys....but today we're having alot of randomness being shared on this blog. This is because I failed to get a post for today written over the weekend, and I haven't had time to knock something out this week. Here we go.....

First, I'm trying to transition myself to running in the mornings. It sucks. I hate it. But, it's so stinkin' hot in the evenings here that I either have to run early and melt, or run late and risk being kidnapped. Neither appeal to me. So.....ND Friend has graciously agreed to call me in the mornings and get my booty out of bed. That's friendship, folks. And I have to do what she says, because she ran the Boston Marathon, which means, she's a rock star!

Second, I have had these songs on repeat all week. Yes, they are also sort of random. Which is fitting.

Third, I wish I had a Polish boyfriend. Just so we could have conversations like this.

Fourth, Blonde Oklahoma Girl posted a great blog about overanalyzing things and asked the following question: "Do you think we over-analzye issues becuase we are trying to get the answer we really want?" Um.....talk about me feeling like someone nailed it right on the head. That's me To. A. Tee. Holy cow....that girl should be a shrink for sure!

Fifth, I cannot wait until Girls Weekend 2011 (I try and tell myself this when I'm waking up at 6 am to leave my comfy bed to go running....) in San Francisco! 6 weeks, baby! We have booked hotels and flights, have a line on a wine tasting tour to Napa and Sonoma, will be singing karaoke with my friend Georgia Boy and I can't even wait to see what else we come up with! Can we top this memory?
Well, all we can do is try. And try we will!

Sixth, speaking of dancing and memories, I was watching the Belmont last weekend (y'all know I don't miss a horse race!) and loved when they played New York, New York. Took me right back to college---and 1:00 am---and Murphys---and me and the girls rocking our kickline to that song. Sigh. I almost got up and did a kickline right in my living room.

Finally, remember how last Saturday I was going to post the giveaway winner? Oops! See what happens when I don't put things in my planner (which, by the way, is the old school paper kind and I refuse to change!) when I set a deadline?

Anyway...drumroll please....our winner is: Dawn from Musings from the Pigg Pen! Shoot me an email with your mailing address and I will get that package on its happy way!

WILW #6...AND....A Giveaway!

“People love others not for who they are but for how they make them feel." ~Irwin Federman

Oh guys...I'm loving LOTS of things this Wednesday! Be sure to check out what everyone else is loving here!

* My photo for the theme "vibrant colors" made the list of "favorites" (not top three....but still something!!) at the LEM challenge! I am so excited...this is only the second time I've ever been chosen as a favorite photo in any challenge, and the first time at LEM!
* Remember my blog about my future dream proposal? Well a family friend sent me an email with another related suggestion. Check this out:
Love love love it. Mr. Right---you have options now! Cow pasture, or sheep shearing. Good thing for you that I'm not picky. :)

* My dear, sweet, wonderful friend Flintstone called me over the weekend concerned after seeing this picture on facebook:
He said that I looked too skinny and that he thought I needed a couple of double quarter pounders. He is clearly (a) blind; (b) biased; and (c) dilusional.....but I love his guts for this comment!

* And while I'm talking about my friends, I am also loving my chats with ND Friend. I tell you, that girl is awesome. No matter what we're issue we're discussing (or what boy we're complaining about...you all remember Pancake Boy, right??) somehow after we talk, everything seems like it's going to work out okay....she must have a gift!

* And one more friend shout out... I love Blonde Oklahoma Girl and our Friends dvds.
BOKG and I both watched our Friends dvds this weekend. We ended up both watching the episode right after Ross said the wrong name at the wedding to Emily and afterwards Rachel was saying how she kept making bad decisions in her love life and decided that Monica would make all of Rachel's love life decisions? (I just realized that those of you who watched Friends are totally following me...the rest of you wonder if I'm speaking Engligh!) Anyway, BOKG and I both emailed each other and said that we were going to let the other one make our decisions! Ha! Go figure. Talk about the blind leading the blind as they say!

* I've stumbled across a couple of Red Dirt songs that are old, but new to me that I am absolutely in LOVE with. (Notice that I've added a few new songs to the playlist over on the left. Feel free to enjoy.)

* And I saved the best for last. I'm loving the number 100. That's right---I have hit 100 followers. I just cannot tell you guys how much I appreciate the fact that you read my blog. It's so much fun for me to write, and I have even more fun reading all of your blogs each day! And, as I promised.....I'll be doing a Tiffany's Favorite Things Giveaway!

What are my favorite things, you ask? Well...take a gander:
Sexy Little Things Perfume, Dried Cherries, an Eli Young Band cd (which is brand new, but will arrive opened because I do plan to download it to my iTunes before I give it away!), a beautiful leather journal, a three piece travel set of Coconut Lime Verbana from Bath and Body Works, the best chocolate chip toffee cookie you will ever taste... and some OSU face stickers (football season is just 3 months away you know!)

How do you enter, you ask? Simple!

Just leave a comment below! I'd love to know if you have any blog ideas...what do you want to read more about? Any fun ideas? Any questions?

If you want 5 extra entries, become a follower of my blog (leave a separate comment letting me know that you are). Be sure to enter by Friday, June 10 at 6:00 pm. I will announce the winner on Saturday!

Project 64: Week 17 - Red Violet (and Quotography and a Winner!)

Okay, I'm having to do some housekeeping and catching up on posts....sorry for throwing a lot at you in one random set here.

Project 64

I'm here to tell you guys.....I thought this was going to be the week I failed at this little project! I had fits finding something to photograph. This color was pretty similar to magenta, which I just recently took, so I was fresh out of ideas.

Then, today, I was taking out the trash and I saw this little weed/flower that had the perfect shade in it. Who knew trash would save my Project 64 goals!

With that background, I give you my version of red violet.

As always, go over and check out the awesome photographs taken by the other challenge participants.

Quotography: FUN

As you read about yesterday, I was chosen as top three photo last week! This week the theme for the quote is "fun." I went back in the archives to Little Linebacker's first birthday party to find the picture, but I thought this was perfect for the quote! Be sure to check out the other photos and quotes at My Perspective!

Giveaway Winner!

And finally...the moment you've all been waiting for.....the winner of my April giveaway of a Red Dirt music cd is....Annie (who you know as Coach A from prior blogs!) Even though I select the winners through a random drawing, I have to tell you that she commented with a Red Dirt song I'd never heard....didn't think that was possible, so nice work Coach A! :)

WILW #5 AND The April Giveaway!

"Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same." ~Francesca Reigler

It's Wednesday, so it's time to share What I'm Loving today!

First, I'm loving the fact that I've become one of these.....

Except not a house, but a friendship. One of my best friends in the world, Chocolate Brown, just found out that he was accepted to law school.....at OU. Now, as the orange color of everything on this blog indicates, I'm a Cowgirl....Oklahoma State through and through! During this law school admissions process, I can't tell you how hard it was for me to pray for ANYONE to get in at OU.....but I did it. That's friendship people! I rationalized that if OSU had a law school, he would be going there, but we don't, so he sort of had to go to OU. Anyway, he got in! SO proud of him! Oh, and major upside: Chocolate Brown, his wife, and I will be going to Bedlam football! Go Pokes!

Second, I am not a huge jewelry person. I have a lot of necklaces, but I never wear rings or bracelets. However, that said, I found this ring and sort of fell in love.

Shock of shocks....it's expensive. So, I've made a little deal with myself (I do that you remember?). If I turn 29 and don't have a REAL ring on my finger (and the corresponding billboard I've promised) .....I'm buying myself this baby. And I'm going to wear it every single day.

Third, last week, I got the chance to be a guest speaker for an agricultural law class for undergrad students at New Mexico State University. It was a lot of fun---and admittedly--I felt sort of old sitting on THAT side of a college class! But then I got a super sweet email from a girl in the class who had some questions about law school. She closed her email by thanking me teaching the class that day and said that, "It was exciting to see that not all lawyers are old men!" Bless you, college girl! And if that was just a line to get me to help you with your law school admissions process....you better believe it worked!

Fourth, I am loving ND Friend and the amazing package I got in the mail last night that contained this....

That, my friends, would be a signed copy of Kristin Armstrong's book, Mile Markers, addressed specifically to ME. ND Friend stood in line while she was at the Boston Marathon expo to get this. How awesome is she?? And, FYI, I am putting ND Friend's signed note to me in the book, because as we already discussed, she did BEAT Kristin Armstrong in the Boston Marathon. Just saying.

Fifth, Y'all know how much I love me some Red Dirt Music. Pat Green was one of my favorites years back, but then he went sort of mainstream and I found other artists that I liked better. Well, last Friday, while I was working, Pandora played me a Pat Green song that I thought was awesome, "What I'm For."

Favorite lines: "I'm for havin' faith in something that hasn't happened yet; For the shy kid in the corner afraid to ask the girl to dance; For the ex-con outta prison who just wants a second chance; For the inner city teacher with her heart stuck in her throat can still see God in every child and never gives up hope; I'm for soakin' up the wisdom when an old man speaks his mind..."

And....The Giveaway! Speaking of Texas Country....I have something to share that I'm NOT loving. This weekend is Calf Fry back in Stillwater (you've read about it before), and I won't be attending. Sigh. I have a hearing that makes it impossible to swing. This adult thing is not so great sometimes.

Well, because I'll be listening to my playlist (and looking at pictures from last year) all week to try and kep myself from having a nervous breakdown over missing the fun, I've decided to share that with a lucky winner. Hello April Giveaway!

The winner will get a cd of my favorite Red Dirt songs. I'm talking Eli Young, Stoney LaRue, Josh Abbott, Wade Bowen, Jason Bowlin.....you get the idea. Seriously, y'all, I've got quite the collection!

To enter, just do two simple things: Follow My Blog (instructions here) and leave me a comment with your favorite song (can be Red Dirt but doesn't have to be!) Get your entries in by Friday at 6:00 pm and I'll announce the winner on Saturday! Good luck!

February Giveaway

"It is not the reciever that is blessed, but it is the giver. Be thankful that you are allowed to exercise your power of benevolence and mercy in the world, and thus become pure and perfect.” ~Swami Vivekananda

Well folks, we're going to change up the giveaway a little bit this month! As you might remember, I'm doing a Happiness Project. This month, I focused on money as the topic of my project. As part of that, I knew that I wanted to make a donation to a charity or some sort of worthwhile cause because I strongly believe in giving back. Anyway, I was inspired by Christin's blog post a while back, and knew this would be my way to accomplish my "make a donation" goal.

So....here's the scoop. You guys leave a comment below suggesting an organization that you think I should make the donation to. (If you have problems with the comment box, you can email me at tiffy83@hotmail.com or facebook me!) Feel free to suggest more than one. I'd love it if you'd explain why you chose the organization that you suggest so we can all learn a little more about you and your cause.
Then, I'll pick one and write a big fat (I suppose that's relative....) check! So even though it's not technically giving anything away to my readers, it's giving something away to an organization that you support, so I figure that's a win/win, right?

Can't wait to hear your suggestions! And feel free to pass this blog link on to others, or to share it on your own blog...the more suggestions, the better!

You have until this Thursday at midnight to get your ideas in, and I'll announce the winner in my Happiness Project post next week!

January Giveaway!

“Have the courage to live. Anyone can die.” ~ Robert Cody

Okay, first off, I just have to tell ya'll that I actually won a blog giveaway myself!! I was SO excited to get this awesome calendar from Little Thoughts! Thanks so much, Lindsay!

Second.....Michabella at Living a Life of Love is doing a giveaway of.....wait for it....SHOES!! Yes, I said SHOES! Check it out here!

Third....it is apparently the BEST month EVER for giveaways, because Neely at A Complete Wast of Makeup (how great is that blog title??) is giving way a $50 gift card and....best part....you get to pick between several different stores including.....wait for it.....BANANA REPUBLIC and TARGET! So have my fingers crossed on that one!! :)

And finally....to my blog for the day! Now that this month is almost over (does anyone else feel like it was just New Year's Eve??), it's time for our January giveaway!

I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. I think that they just set up you for failure. And, I am always annoyed for the first two weeks of the year when I have to wait on a treadmill or weight machine because of all the "resolutionists" who invade the gym.

But I do love the idea that each year begins anew and we have the opportunity to set goals and priorities and figure out all of the fun things that we intend to do for that coming year. So...with that in mind, we have the January giveaway!

I have a copy of a mini-book called "98 Things a Woman Should Do in Her Lifetime" that I will be giving away to our lucky drawing winner. (Sorry any boys who read this and are bummed about this giveaway---I really did look for something similar for men, but apparently one hasn't been written!) Here's a great quote from the book just to give you a little taste, "Life is too short for ironing, nonfat dairy creamer, and regret of any kind." My kind of book!

HOW TO ENTER

You can enter one of two ways (or both)!

1. Leave a comment on this blog or on the facebook post of it telling me one goal for the year and I'll give you one entry!

2. If you are a follower or become a follower the blog (see directions here), I'll give you 5 entries. Be sure to leave a separate comment letting me know you are a follower so I can enter you!

Enter by Thursday, January 27 at 6:00 pm and I will announce the winner on Friday! Good luck!

This

"A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it." ~Jean de La Fontaine

First things first.....this month's giveaway winners are Amy E. and Oklahoma Mom! We have two because Cousin Kevin agreed to donate an extra tin! Yay, Cousin Kevin!

Those of you who didn't win can still order your tin from Cousin Kevin here! (Tell them you ordered from me....I'm trying to solidify my position as favorite cousin!) :)

Now, on to today's blog.....I love Darius Rucker. You might remember that I saw him in concert a while back. Anyway, he has a new song out called "This" and I knew the first time I heard it that I would love it. Here are just a few of the lyrics.

Every stoplight I didn’t make
Every chance I did or I didn’t take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn’t know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to this

Like the girl that I loved in high school
Who said she could do better
Or the college I wanted to go to
Till I got that letter
All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I’d never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All led me here to you
I didn’t understand it way back when
But sittin’ here right now
It all makes perfect sense

Isn't this true? I thought he was singing about me....boys that broke my heart, colleges that sent (or didn't send) the letter, moments of heartache.....I've been there. But I'm able to see how those things needed to happen in order to get me to the place where I am now--the place where God intends me to be. Sometimes when we are going through things it's impossible to look at the bigger picture and see how good might come out of difficult situations. But when we look back years later, things often start to fall into place. I, for one, am glad that I didn't get the thins I thought I wanted years ago. And I think Darius Rucker is on something here!

Check out the whole song:

December Giveaway - FUDGE!

"All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!" ~Lucy on Charlie Brown

Well, somehow it is officially December. I don't know where the year has gone. But, I think that it's time for our December giveaway!

You can thank The Shoeologist who is currently doing an awesome boot giveaway (please, please please, pick me!!) for making me ready to do my giveaway right now!

I'm super excited about this month's giveaway because it involves someone you have all come to know and love on the blog, Cousin Kevin. You've read about him once or twice.
Anyway, he and his adorable business partner (don't be jealous, Kev....you're adorable too) have recently launched their own fudge brand and company, Big Little Fudge.
Now, let me just tell you....this stuff is amazing. I didn't say good, I said amazing. And I've eaten a lot of fudge in my day (including once on vacation when I was like 10 and I ate a pound and spend the rest of the night throwing up). Big Little is the best. Hands down.
So, to celebrate Cousin Kevin's new venture, I'll be giving away a free tin of assorted fudge! (You can check out the assortment here).

Entering is simple and you have two options:

1. Leave me a comment on this blog (see below) telling me your favorite Christmas gift of all time!

2. Become a follower of this blog (see instructions here) and I will give you 5 extra entries!

Have your entries in by Sunday, December 5 at 6:00 pm! I will draw and announce a winner on Monday! Good luck!

Throwback Thursday #40: Oops!

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” ~Einstein

We are throwing back to two weeks ago....because I forgot to draw a November giveaway winner! Oops!! The Bride informed me of my error in Chicago last week....I was impressed with her patience. I would have figured she would have called me at 6:01 on the morning it should have been posted!

Anyway, for the November giveaway of a pumpkin spice candle, I had 16 entries. And the winner is.....Codi M.! (Codi--send me your address and I'll get the candle in the mail to you!) Thanks to all of you who joined as followers and who shared your life metaphors with me!

I promise that I will get it in gear and not forget to draw the winner on time next month....so stay tuned. I'm planning a Christmas related giveaway, so if you have suggestions, let me know!

Life Metaphor.....and the November Giveaway!

"Each of us in our own way can try to spread compassion into people's hearts." ~Dalai Lama

I am re-reading The Purpose Driven Life and apparently that was a good idea becuase this is my second blog (click here if you missed the first one) about it and I'm only on Day 6! The author asks an interesting question. "How do you see your life? What is your life metaphor?" For example, do you see life as a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns? Or do you see life as a game or a puzzle?

He explained that however you view your life greatly impacts how you live your life. So, for example, if you see life as a race you are probably constanty blowing and going and need to learn to stop and smell the roses. If you see life as a game of cards, you're likely to feel like you have to play the hand you are dealt.

I realized that I'm not sure what my metaphor is. (Maybe this is why I feel like I'm pulled in all directions like I've explained before!) I have been thinking about it all week.....and after talking with one of my guy friends on the phone, I at least have an idea.....My friend told me that he always loves talking to me because I just make him feel better about everything in his life. That was a compliment that really touched me....because I think that loving people and making a difference in their lives is such an important thing to do.
So, based on that, I tried to come up with my life metaphor. I have an idea....but I'm not sure this is exactly right. I guess maybe I see life a little bit like a triage nurse would a battle field. It sounds strange, I know...but I picture a triage nurse running around through the field trying to help as many people as best she can. I would at least like to think that my life is that way---that as I go through life, I try to meet and befriend and help as many people as I can. The I love the thought of viewing life as a chance to make a difference in the life of someone else, a chance to be kind and loving and friendly....a chance to do something to bandage a wound or fill a need.

I'd LOVE to know... What is your life metaphor?

I really want to hear your thoughts on this. So.....I'm tying it into my GIVEAWAY for November.....you coud win a pumpkin spice scented candle. I will select the winner by random drawing.

You have two ways to enter.

1. Comment either on this blog, or on my facebook post of this blog and tell me your life metaphor.

2. If you become a follower of my blog (you can see instructions here) I will give you 5 (yes.....I said FIVE) entries! Can you tell I really want to increase my number of official followers?

We'll leave this contest open for 3 days (because The Bride almost went crazy when it was a whole week last time), so get your entries in by 9:00 pm this Thursday (November 5, 2010)!

I will announce the winner on Friday....good luck and I can't wait to read your comments!

The Crazy Canadian, Goals and a Give-away!

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” ~Gail Devers

I think that a lot of people have a common theme in our lives. We think of these lofty goals that we would love to achieve, but then we never really follow up to do anything about them. I know that I'm guilty of that to an extent.

But my friend Crazy Canadian is not like most people.

She set a goal of writing a book several years ago, back while we were still in college. And it wasn't just the writing a book that she wanted to do, but to write a book, get it published, and then sell the book. Well, last week, the dream came true. Crazy Canadian's first book, Live An Amazing Life has been written, is being published, and is for sale. She set a goal, worked towards it step by step, and made her dream come true. And we should all pay attention!
I realize that not everyone wants to write a book. Heck, I know a few people who don't even want to read a book. But regardless, I think that we can all take something from Crazy Canadian. When we have dreams and set goals, even ones that may seem unreachable, good things happen. If we set our goals, and then take things one step at a time to achieve them, we can eventually reach our goals. Live an Amazing Life is proof of that! I could not be more proud of my friend making her dream come true!

And....here is where the last part of the blog title will start to make sense....Crazy Canadian has offered to let me give away a copy of the book to one of my blog readers! This is my first ever give-away on the blog, so I'm very excited.

Here's the scoop for the drawing......

You can enter in one of two ways....but you must do so by Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 9:00 pm MST.
