The Morning After.....Gooooo Pokes!!

"A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall." - Frank Leahy, Notre Dame Goooooo Pokes!!
What a kick-off weekend for college football!! Totally lived up to (and exceeded) my expectations! Can't wait until next Saturday!! Here are my top 5 favorite moments of the weekend....

1. COWBOYS Win!!!

Oklahoma State: 24
Georgia: 10

Defense steps up big....it's nice getting to say that finally!

2. Joe Pa returns to the Penn State sideline.....at the age of 82!

3. A NEW MEXICO kid steps in at quarterback for OU.

4. Notre Dame Shuts Out Nevada!!

5. I got to spend the weekend with my friend and yours, Coach Lou Holtz. (Not in person...I only wish!! )

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!

"For southern girls, a football game is just like church. We get dressed up in our finest outfits (or our team's colors), prepare a big lunch for family and friends, scream like the holy spirit is upon us and spend several hours praying for a miracle." -Southern Girls Guide to Life

It's after midnight and I can't sleep. I'm like a kid waiting for Santa. I am sure it comes as a shock to no one....but I'm a college football fanatic! Seriously....I love it. Knowing that for the next 3 months I will get to watch games every Saturday makes me soooo excited! And I'm not prejudice.....(I mean of course I am.....GO POKES!!)....as I will watch any game, any time, I don't even care who is playing. I just love the game!

It's a big game in Stillwater this weekend......#9 OSU v. #13 Georgia. This great shirt is being sold....it says "Beat Georgia.....and the UGAly mutt they brought with them. Welcome to Stillwater!"

There was even an article about us in the New York Times....fancy!! http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/05/sports/ncaafootball/05okstate.html

So everyone put on your ORANGE today and cheer on the COWBOYS!! (Game is on ABC at 1:30 MST)

Congratulations Friends!!

"Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally." ~David Frost
It's a big weekend for several people in my life! Congratulations!

Bar Results are out and UNM did AWESOME!!
And everyone called our class the slackers....ha!

Georgia Boy and Pole Vaulter are getting married!!

I worked with Georgia Boy last summer in San Francisco and he's one of the most awesome guys I've ever met. It's good that he's getting married on Sept. 5, because he's a UGA grad and fan.....so he'll need a reason to be happy after the Pokes stomp the Bulldogs! His soon-to-be wife is a doll---she pole vaulted at UGA and is now a lawyer in California. She is such a sweetheart and they are like the perfect couple!!

Gonzaga Friend and Dr. J are getting married!

Gonzaga Friend and I also worked together last summer (apparently I missed the memo that every single Paul Hastings summer should get married on September 5.....) in California. She's one of the happiest people in the world and we've decided that our lives are so dramatic, we're writing an opera. We got the idea after seeing our first one last summer. Stay tuned for that. :) She's marrying Dr. J, who I met one weekend on a yacht trip with the firm. He was funny and it's clear he really loves Miss Gonzaga Friend, so he's an A in my book! Although this marriage might kill her dramatic life and ruin the opera.....

Cousin Whiney is having a BIG birthday!

Cousin Whitney is my favorite travel partner! She's turning the big 2-5 this weekend! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!

I didn't waste the last 3 years of my life!!

"There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures." ~Shakespear

The bar pass list is up........

Comebacks to that all time favorite question "Why Aren't You Married Yet?"

"Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they just need to run free 'til they find someone just as wild to run with them." ~ SATC

Because I spent the day doing dishes, organizing my desk, and making a budget(and I didn't feel that anyone would care to read about those adventures!) I decided to post one of my favorite emails.

Now, if you have lived in a small town and have waited to get married (and by waited I mean like over the age of 20) you have heard this question a million times. I'm five years over the age of 20 and have heard this question about a zillion times.

Single girls, I think we should all start using one of these lines. I've highlighed my favorites.

Oh, and here's a fantastic song by Trick Pony called, "The Bride" that fits this topic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jexdrndvxu0

Ultimate Comebacks
1. You haven't asked yet.
2. I was hoping to do something meaningful with my life.
3. Because I just love hearing this question.
4. Just lucky, I guess.
5. It gives my mother something to live for.
6. My fiancée is awaiting his parole. (Sidenote: In Logan people would probably think that's better than being single.....)
7. I'm still hoping for a shot at Miss America.
8. Do you know how hard it is to get two tickets to Miss Saigon?
9. I'm waiting until I get to be your age.
10. It didn't seem worth a blood test.
11. I already have enough laundry to do, thank you.
12. Because I think it would take all the spontaneity out of dating.
13. My co-op board doesn't allow spouses.
14. I'd have to forfeit my billion dollar trust fund.
15. They just opened a great singles bar on my block.
16. I wouldn't want my parents to drop dead from sheer happiness.
17. I guess it just goes to prove that you can't trust those voodoo doll rituals.
18. What? And lose all the money I've invested in running personal ads?
19. I don't want to have to support another person on my paycheck.
20. Why aren't you thin?
21. I'm married to my career, although recently we have been considering a trial separation.
22. (Bonus reply for Single Mothers) Because having a husband and a child would be redundant.

Turbo kickboxing (aka cruel and unusual punishment!)

"You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." ~Winnie the Pooh
So last night I went to the first Turbo Kick class at my gym. I really enjoyed Tae Bo a few years back, so I figured this would be similar. According to our instructor.....a sweet little cheerleader named Ginger......you can burn 1000 calories in an hour doing this. She failed to inform me that I would be unable to move the next morning.
Here's a clip from a class similar to what we did last night (but we went for an HOUR)....

......and here is how I felt this morning.....
In other news......I have my first follower on the blog! Yay, Crystal!! :)

Here goes nothing!

"I think we forget we only get to do this once. We only get today, once." ~Ryan Kelly, Desert Springs Church

Helloooooo!!

Step one feels like I should catch everyone up on my life......it's been a whirlwind of a summer!!

I graduated from law school in May....
....the same weekend, I bought a condo........where I spent most of the summer studying for the bar exam.....
....except for the insane number of weddings I attended...... ......then I took the bar exam (still no results yet, thanks for caring!).... .....and ran off to Europe.......
....in particular, to Switzerland.....

.....France......
.....and Roma!.....
.....then came home and went to Stillwater (aka The Happiest Place on Earth).... ....and will start my first real job in a week!
