Family Farm Friday #64: 2,000 Words

“The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.” ~Winston Churchill

First things first.....today is a very important day......it's Blonde Oklahoma Girl's Birthday!! You know what she wants? Comments and followers. :) So go over to her blog and give her some love!

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Remember the article I wrote a scathing blog about a while back....the one that claimed being part of organizations like 4-H and FFA and showing animals de-sensatized kids and turned them into cold blooded, unfeeling killers (or some such non-sense?)

And do you remember the blog I wrote in response to that explaining that this article was completely untrue and outlining the huge impact that shoting had on my life?

Well, a sight at the county fair a couple weeks ago said all of that so much better than I ever could have dreamed to do. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Here are 2,000 for you.

Crazy activists can talk all they want. The proof that they are completely wrong is in that little girl's face.

I've been out of the showing arena (literally) for almost 10 years now, and I still get a little teary-eyed and nostalgic when I think about some of my past show animals. Like my old steer, Copper, who I loved with that absolute-favorite-dog-or-cat-or-other-pet kind of love. Or my pig, Blue (who had blue eyes and would play dead when his belly was rubbed.....<3). Oh, or Guess, a Chester pig (white with floppy ears for those who are not familiar with the breed), who would sit for hours, nodding his head up and down to make his ears flap in his eyes, absolutely fascinated with and entertained by his own ears.

The experience and responsiblity of raising those animals was so very valuable and precious.

I see a future show kid, loving on her animal and I have a pic of a show kid who is leaving the showring loving on her animal, so sad to have to let him go, it goes on and on, I showed a FEW years ago and I can tell you about my animals and now I have loved my kids animals. God send us as stewards of not only the land but the animals he had Adam name, Adam loved them because he named them, the showkids can tell you the names of the animals they raise, can these activists tell us the names, I bet not!
