It's Okay Thursday and Friday Confessions

“All good things are wild and free.” ~Henry David Thoreau

I haven't done this in a while, so I thought I'd link up with "It's Okay Thursday" and Friday Confessions!

It's Okay That/I Confess That....

....last weekend I got onto iTunes in order to download Wild Ones by Flo Rida and Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver.  Pretty sure that iTunes Genius playlist has no idea what to do with me and my musical tastes.

....on Sunday I went to Sunflower Market and bought healthy food for the week, including roasted red pepper hummus, raw spinach, grapes, carrot sticks and squash.  I followed that up by getting a brick oven pizza for lunch.  You win some, you lose some.

.....that everyone I know is getting married or pregnant. EVERYONE. In the last week, two people I know (including Cousin Whitney!!) have gotten engaged. In the last couple of months, 7 friends have announced they are pregnant. I'm not just falling behind, I'm being lapped.

.....I laughed for like an hour at this article about conversations between dating Christian girls and guys.  My two favorites:

Girls’ Statement:He’s always using the “Water into Wine” argument to defend his excessive drinking habits.
Guys’ Response:
For. The. Last. Time… JESUS DRANK!!!

Girls’ Statement:He seemed interested after our second date, but then I never heard from him again.
Guys’ Response:
You gave me a pre-highlighted copy of The Five Love Languages, asked me to meet your parents and, if we had a girl, what I thought about the name Sophia with a P-H instead of an F.

......instead of going to the gym to watch the Olympic Trials on Saturday night while running on the treadmill (as I had been doing most of the week), I watched them in my pjs.  On my couch.  Eating a baked potato.  With cheese and bacon.  And sort of felt like I worked out after watching the people on tv.  I made up for it by only allowing myself to watch the trials on Sunday if I went to the treadmill.  Once again, I say, you win some, you lose some.

.....not to like raw kale, because it tastes like alfalfa. How, you ask, does she know what alfalfa tastes like?  Chalk it up to being a farm kid.  I've said before that it warped my food choices.

.....that I didn't get to spend my Fourth of July at the pool or at a BBQ.  Instead, I got to grant a wish for a great Make-a-Wish kiddo!  His wish was a shopping spree, so we shopped until we dropped, cruised town in a limo, and stuffed our faces at Texas Roadhouse.  I absolutely love volunteering for Make-a-Wish.  I seriously feel like I should have to pay them for letting me have as much fun as I do!

.....that I'm probably going to be worthless at the office today because I'll be too busy counting down the minutes until the Jason Bowlin concert tonight!  LOVE me some Red Dirt music and dancing!

It's Okay Thursday!

“You don't need a lover in your life to have love in your life.” ~Jenny McCarthy

Well after a week of me yapping about mostly serious stuff....you know like waiting for true love and cherished moments (my worst Valentine's Day ever story being the exception to the seriousness)...I decided we'd mix it up and do a little It's Okay Thursday!

It's okay that....

...I didn't have a Valentine on Valentine's day. Like Jenny's quote says above, I may not have a lover in my life, but I've got a lot of love in it!

I have a best friend who always has my back. And this week, that meant he sent a big ol' bouquet of hot pink flowers to my office with a super sweet card. BFF has been my best friend for over 10 years. Obviously, you see why.
And I've got an Uncle Buddy who suprises me on the day after Valentine's Day with another bouquet of flowers for no reason other than that he's awesome. A girl could get used to this, folks! (It's possible that the girls at the office all hate me now....)
...On Saturday I went to the movies to see The Vow. By myself. In my sweats. And smuggled in a purse full of snacks. Which I offered to share with the nice young couple sitting next to me. Yes. My name is Tiffany, and I'm apparently 28 going on 80. (And I wonder why I didn't have a Valentine??)

....I'm a completely single lady who plans on spending the weekend with a couple of different babies, crashing a date night, and shopping for wedding dresses. Look, y'all, when Mr. Right appears, I'll be ready!

...I've spent a good part of the week daydreaming about quitting my job, selling my house, buying a one-way ticket to Europe. But never fear, becuase I'm practical, this has included some figuring of how long my money will last before it runs out and I have to come home.
....I am signing up for a 5 mile race over St. Patrick's Day with my dear ND Friend in Chicago, and I haven't run 5 miles since last fall! Look, there will be Bongo Room pancakes after the race, so if that's not motivation to finish, I don't know what is.
....the surprise Valentine's Day flowers that I sent to my friends caused Blonde Oklahoma Girl to get in a fight with the UPS man and insist these were for the girl next door who HAS a husband (read story here) and that ND Friend blogged about not liking tulips on the same day that a bouquet of...you guessed it...tulips arrived from me.

...I was really rooting for the whole Bob Little/Amber Braverman thing to work out on Parenthood. Yes, I know he's older and politician and her boss, but they're so cute together! Dang Aunt Christina for ruining it!
...I loved this little picture, courtesy of College Roomie.

Hey, It's Okay #2 and Photos of the Week: Week 46

"When the world doesn't make no sense and you're feeling just a little too tense, gotta loosen up your chains and dance!" ~Dixie Chicks

I'm just not feeling super philosophical today, so instead of anything important, we're doing confessions and photos. Here we go!

Photos of the Week

Theme: Orange (Project 64)
I realize that lately this blog has been all OSU all the time what with my reaction on Saturday to the announcment that there would be protesters at the memorial service for our coaches (by the way, one man prevented this....read the story here), and my thoughts yesterday on my love for OSU, but you had to know that when orange was the color of the week, there would be a football-related picture coming your way. I love this shot in black and white with just a splash of orange in the center. Check out the other entries at Project 64.

Theme: Giving Thanks (Quotography)
I've always loved this quote and thought it fit perfectly with this theme. Be sure to check out the other entries at My Perspective!

Theme: Music
I'm totally not a musical instrument person. Once, College Roomie and I called our dorm neighbor "Trumpet Boy" for months before learning that the horn he carried around was a saxaphone. Oops. But I love me a tuba, mostly becuase of SoulMate Friend's husband, Tuba Man, who I used to go watch play in the Stillwater Community Band. So when I saw the tubas playing at Homecoming Walkaround, I had to snap a shot.

Hey, it's okay....

Its Ok Thursdays

1) ...that I'm not doing this on Thursday. Tuesday, Thursday, potato, potaaato. It's my blog.

2) ....to seriously feel like this little picture was drawn about me. No lie, I had 4 (count them...FOUR) facebook friends get engaged last weekend. Three are younger than I am. Of course all of MY friends are beautiful and I'm happy for them, but seriously, some other people getting engaged make me feel just like the girl in the picture. Which leads me to my second wedding-related confession for the day.

3).....to watch Say Yes to the Dress and more often think "who is the world wants to marry a girl who acts like that" or "how is she engaged and on tv and I'm sitting on my couch in my sweats" rather than "what a lovely mermaid dress she is trying on." Whatev. And by whatev I mean "universe please don't curse me and never send Mr. Right!"

4) ....to at least once a week think about quitting my job, selling my house, and becoming a beach bum who makes money selling surfboards. (As you might remember from this blog, this really just means its time for a trip.) And it's okay to not know anything about said surfboards.

5)....to be a little offended that Cousin Swiss Mister is skipping out on family Thanksgiving on Saturday because he didn't have enough time even though he did have enough time to spend a romantic weekend in New York with some girl. Who graduated from OU. Salt.In.Wound. I already don't like her. Oh well, certainly not the first time! :)

6)....to have totally forgotten to post my blog all about game day at Homecoming. Particularly given that it was SUCH a fantastic day with fantastic people. Who are super beautiful/handsome and will make you jealous when you see the picutres. Never fear, I'll get that up on Friday!

7)....to secretly look for Kyle the Medic when they show the sideline at an OSU game. No sighting yet. He's probably off marrying his girlfriend. Please refer back to confession #2 for my thoughts on that. And to the photo below.

It's Okay Thursday #1

"I can't go on anymore bad dates. I would rather be home alone than out with some guy who sells socks on the internet.” ~Miranda Hobbes, SATC

I didn't get a blog written last night. I just didn't feel like writing.....I was not in a mood where I felt like being chipper or witty or optimistic. My plan was just not to have one, but Blonde Oklahoma Girl called me out on it, so I decided to slap something together. Somtimes, you have to fake it 'til you make it, so here's my attempt.

Oh, and I realize the quote above is really not related to anything, but I thought it was awesome and had to use it.

Today I'm trying on a new link up called "It's Okay Thursdays." You've read before about how I think a little ranting does a girl good. Here we go! :)

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Okay.....

...that last night I almost had a heart attack when I went to feed Brett-Brett and Miss Texas' cat (they are out of town) and he was laying motionless on the bed. Mind you, he's literally 19 years old and I pray every time I am cat sitting he won't die on me.

.....that once I frantically screamed his name, and said cat looked up at me like he was annoyed that I interrupted his nap, I shook my finger in his face and gave him a stern lecture.

.....that last night I had a "to-do" list the length of my arm, but I ended up putting on my pjs and watching an America's Next Top Model marathon instead.

....that I want to go out and buy new Nike apparel just because of this ad campaign below.

.....that after talking to ND Friend about how it's important to be specific when you pray, I'm thinking about adding a request for Mr. Right to be a square toed boot wearer and to hate flip flops just to be sure my bases are covered. (I hope he takes Miss Canada's amazingly wonderful male fashion advice! Be still my heart...)

.....to wish I could block all "breaking news" about the stock market from MSN. I swear, everytime I see something about the Dow dropping it makes me want to take all of my money and shove it in a pillow case under my matress. (I have not acted on that impulse, so don't attempt to rob me!)

.....that I am perpetually confused about bananas. Let me explain. Every Monday, there are literally three big bunches of bananas in the kitchen at work. I mean the big bunches--like the Chaquita lady wears on her head. I went into the kitchen yesterday (Wednesday) and there was one, yes, ONE SINGLE banana left. There are only 14 people who work here. Where do they go?

......that I seriously considered not buying food or clothing for the next month just to be able to afford the plane and game tickets to go to 3 OSU football games this fall. Takes bleeding orange to a whole new level, no?
