I know that I don't usally blog on Saturdays. And I've got a full blog coming on Monday about what people are calling the worst day in OSU history. In the mean time, I just have to say this.
It has been announced that the Westboro Baptist Church, that group of people who routinely protest at funeral of fallen U.S. soldiers, will be in Stillwater on Monday morning, protesting the memorial service for Coach Budke and Coach Serna. Their rationale behind this is ridiculous and repulsive.
I believe in freedom of speech. But I also believe in respecting and honoring the dead and the grieving. And in a God who would never condone the actions of these people.

Finally, I believe in Oklahoma State. The students and community are already planning to come out in droves, in a sea of orange. In doing so, they will show their support for the coaches' families. They will show their love for OSU. And they will show that nothing....not plane crashes, not upset losses, and certainly not jackasses from this so-called church will be able to quiet our spirit. I've never been more proud to be a Cowboy.

Tiff, you hold that pride in what you feel, those people dishonor our fallen heroes and friends every time they do this despicable protesting...my heart goes out to all the Cowboys and their families...Connie J
Westboro Baptist Church makes my blood boil. But then, part of me thinks they like to be shocking, and maybe the best thing we can do is ignore them and not give them attention. Their actions are misguided and hateful and I'm sorry that they make already grieving families (and communities) feel worse. :(
