Project 64: Week 20 - Asparagus

This week the color assignment was asparagus.

Fortunately, I got tons of pictures full of green while I was in DC and Virginia earlier this month for the steeplechase. You've already seen all of my pictures from the steeplechase itself, but I also took several shots around DC that you will be seeing pop up for different themes.

Today, I wanted to use one of my favorite shots as my version of asparagus.

I loved this angle....the soldier, the Washington Monument in his eyeline, the clouds and the trees. Even though the asparagus colored trees are not the focus of the picture, it was one of my favorite shots and they are the right colors, so I'm going with it.

The Korean Memorial is probably my favorite in DC. The memorial depicts American soldiers walking through a rice paddy. Looking at the statutes of people--seeing the faces and eyes and knowing that people in our country, even in my own family--just makes you remember that the reason for these memorials is the real people who served.

Don't forget to check out the other Asparagus entries at Project 64!
