Wedding Recap Post #12: The Dancing

One of the very first things my parents said when we got engaged was that they knew the perfect band.   We were really excited about dancing...I think the band was booked before anything else was decided.  And they did not disappoint!

Our first dance was to the only song it could have been.  Amarillo by Morning.  Not only is this my absolute favorite song, but since I spent the last year and a half flying to see the Boy from Texas in Amarillo, it was the only real option.  Plus, it's by King George.  Perfect option.

Next up, The Boy from Texas danced with his mama to "I Hope You Dance."

Then, it was time for the father daughter dance.  We started off two stepping to some sappy nonsense called "Daddy's Little Girl."

A verse in, the guitarist said, "Wait, that's the wrong song.  They requested, Adalida!"

 And then, the fun started.

When I first told my dad about my dance idea, he said, "I don't know if you can keep up with me."  I think we managed to do pretty well.  But by the end, we were both suckin' air!

Then, it was time for everyone to hit the dance floor.  And did they ever!  From two year olds to eighty year olds, everyone was cuttin' a rug!

This is me and my dad's college roommate...clearly those two
spent some time at a dance hall or two!
Three generations of the Hepburn family.

This little boy was very popular....he asked each girl's father for permission
to dance with the daughter.

It's not a party in rural New Mexico without a good dance.  I think we had that requirement covered.  Everyone danced until they dropped.  Here's photo proof of that...

The one of the little guy sleeping under the table kills me - so cute!

Your dance with your dad was very fun to watch. You guys did great!

But you forgot to mention your second first dance for just you and Ty - you have wanted Feet Don't Touch The Ground for years, so I'm glad you used it too!

I about died when I read that the boy asked each father for permission...and then had to share with my mom & we both "awwed" some more. That is the cutest thing ever! I want my hypothetical child to be that much of a gentleman.

My dad & I already decided a couple of years ago that we're doing Cotton Eye Joe lol.
