What I'm Loving Wednesday #14

"You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them." ~Michael Jordan

Well folks, we've made it halfway through the week. Woo hoo!! I'm linking up with Jamie today for What I'm Loving Wednesday.

1. This song. It's called "19 and Crazy" by Bombshel. I came across it for the first time when Blonde Oklahoma Girl was playing dj on her iPod for our ski trip road trip. I bet I've listened to it 57 times today. Seriously. Love it. And to get in the spirit, I included a picture of myself circa 19. And a picture of myself circa now (and still crazy!) :)2. Your sweet emails and comments on yesterday's post about my Top 20 blogs of 2011! If you're a new follower (or think you might want to be) click here to check out my 20 best posts of last year.

3. Keeping a Food Journal. I know, I know. So cliche to do this to kick off the New Year. I use this website called My Fitness Pal. It's awesome--you can enter in the foods that you eat (they have literally everything!) and it keeps track of all sorts of nutritional info. I'm on day 5 of my healthy eating habits and I'm here to tell you, I feel so good!
3. Spinach. Crazy, right?? So when you write down everything you eat and see numbers right there on your computer screen, it's pretty good motivation to change up your diet habits! Anyway, I've come up with this amazing spinach salad that's so good and super easy. I just use about a cup and a half of raw baby spinach leaves, one clementine (those baby orange things), a fourth of a cup of chow mein noodles and a tablespoon of Kraft Light Asian dressing. Seriously guys, it's amazing. And this from the girl who firmly believes that chocolate chip cookies should be a food group, so you know I have good taste!

4. Pinterest. No no, don't get all excited. I have not come over to the dark side. I do, however, stalk several of my best friends who have....The Bride, Blonde Oklahoma Girl, College Roomie, Loud Oklahoma Girl.... Here are a couple of my favorite pins they've done lately.

5. My perpetual calendar. I have mentioned before that The Bride gives the best gifts. Remember the butterflies last year? Well this year she did not disappoint. She gave me a perpetual calendar! What is that? Glad you asked. How it works is that she made a notecard for every day of the year with the date stamped in the corner (i.e. Jan. 1, Jan. 2, etc). And she put them in a cute little basket and divided each month with some of her amazing photography shots. And now it's my job to write something down each day. It can be something fun I did, a great quote I read, something I'm thankful for, song lyrics...whatever. I'll do this every year, the idea being that in 10 years, I'll be able to look back at the last 10 years of my life and what I was doing each day. Seriously, what a great gift, right?! (Please act surprised if you get this gift from me sometime this year....)

6. Hating on the BCS National Championship. We all know that I think my Cowboys should have been there playing LSU. And I honestly believe that we could have won. There. I said it. I must say that as boring as the game was, people's facebook comments were anything but boring. Thank you, facebook friends for coming through. Here were a couple of my favorites:

This game is so boring I've actually switched to the Bachelor and enjoying it. At least now I'm watching some fighting, blocking and kicking.

How do you stop the LSU football team from going home? Put the 50 yard line in their front yard.

Jordan Jefferson is good. There are only 6 Big 12 quarterbacks better than he is.

Thanks again espn for this epic rematch...I'd rather get punched in the face than watch this kicking contest.

6. That Oklahoma State won the Fiesta Bowl....by scoring multiple touchdowns. Oh, wait. Did I already mention that this week? That's real football, folks. :)

The Facebook status updates were the only thing that made the game worth having on the radar. What a joke that was!

I would be okay with receiving the perpetual calendar as a gift (hint, hint). And I'd totally act surprised. Just sayin'....
