“As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.” ~Mary Anne Radmacher
I've given into peer pressure again. In college that usually meant that I ended up at the Penny at 2 in the morning with a bunch of drunk boys who needed a ride home. Sigh...I love those crazy kids and miss those crazy nights!
Nowadays, my friends have grown up and it means that I've signed up to send letters and care packages to a soldier serving overseas!
Two of my real life friends--Pharmer Girl and Almost Gypsy Soul--both adopted soldiers through this program and blogged about it. You just commit to sending a letter a week and 1-2 care packages a month. Pretty easy, right? Now I'm not nearly as crafty as Pharmer Girl and I'm not as good at coming up with fun ideas (Taco Bell sauce) as Almost Gypsy Soul, but my poor soldier will just have to deal with what I can come up with.
I'm working on my first package. I'm thinking a football theme for Super Bowl weekend!

Love the football theme package and that is right up your alley also :) Send him some fun super bowl party goodies like cookies and chips. Just check out pintrest if you are ever short of ideas :)

YAY! I'm so glad you are on the adoption wagon! I'm sure your soldier will love whatever you send him/her. The one soldier that wrote me back regularly (I actually still talk to him time to time) said that handwritten letters were the best part! Tell him about everything, even if it seems boring to you!
Great idea! And you are plenty crafty and creative, so your soldier is going to make out just fine. :)
(Sorry, typos. Trying again). Sometimes I think we are secretly sisters. I haven't done this in a while due to finances, but, I was a regular at adopting through www.anysoldier.com. Great feeling in supporting our troops. They all LOVED Muffin and would send letters to me AND her. Hilarious. :) But I know they missed their own furry friends back home. You are awesome for this!
Just another reason on why you're so AWESOME!!!
I really need to do that again. I've adopted a soldier before & sent packages to friends that have been deployed. You're doing a great thing!
